You know him as the genius that wrote the music for Amelie, but Yann Tiersen was a classically trained musician turned rocker turned composer. You can read all about his life at his website here. It is all really quite fascinating! I know that's not the path for me, but it takes all sorts of musicians to make the world go round in song.
For now, here is one of his I had not heard before today. Another beautiful piano piece entitled L'absente.

The Kindly Diva on :: Baroque Music
Some days I wake up feeling like Vivaldi's Spring. Those famous Four Seasons seem to always be applicable to bright mornings filled with sunshine. Especially if they are Saturday mornings like this one. Its not exactly sunny here, but the light streaming through the windows seems to still be enough to bring about the vividness of Vivaldi's Spring.
Baroque music sometimes reminds me of a chandelier. Something about it sparkles. Its perfect in its brilliance. Speaking of chandeliers, I'm dreaming of having a lovely one suspended above a dark wood dining table someday, like this milk glass beauty.

The Kindly Diva on :: New Beginnings
New Year, new blog! This is a second and hopefully more successful attempt than last year, as it is more specific (indeed specificity has much to do with success sometimes), having to do with the Kindly Diva and what she has to say about things. A variety of things, music, books, gardening, cooking, sailing, and beautiful living on a daily basis.
There are some big changes coming up in life, including the fact that I am soon to be a married lady! That's right, in 90 days I will be married to the wonderful Carlos Botero!! We always joke that then my married name will be long enough for me to be throughly Spanish. I could be Elizabeth Ann M. Toy Botero-Vargas. Long enough?
Another change since last year is that I now reside in a different state, and go to a different school! Yes, I am in Graduate school at Indiana University and live in Bloomington.
And now that all the changes have been noted, its time to simply write about them!
